Welcome back to a brand new school year at Orange Elementary School. We hope you have all enjoyed a wonderful summer filled with relaxation, adventures, cherished moments with family and friends, exploration, and reading! As we prepare for this new school year, we are thrilled to reconnect with our returning students and extend a warm Cheetah welcome to all our new students joining us for the first time!

This year promises to be an exciting journey of learning, growth, and unforgettable experiences. Our dedicated team of teachers and staff have been working tirelessly over the summer to prepare. 

We encourage parents to get involved in school activities and events. Your support and participation are vital to the success of our school community. Watch for newsletters, announcements, and PTO meetings about upcoming engagement opportunities at Orange Elementary School. 

Our school hours will continue to be 9:00 a.m. - 3:53 p.m.  The tardy bell will ring at 9:15 a.m.  Breakfast and lunch will continue to be free to all students for the entire school year! 

We will continue with parent drop-off in the lower parking lot in the mornings beginning at 9:00 am and curb-side pick-up will continue in the afternoons.  Parents will not be able to walk students into the school in the mornings. This is for the safety and health of all of our students.  Please do not drop your child off before 9:00 am as they will not be supervised.  Please avoid picking up your child early if possible so instruction is not missed.  You will get a detailed letter about dismissal at the Open House.

If you have an afternoon change in transportation please send a note with your child to give to the teacher, email Ms. Shelton at jshelton@ocss-va.org, or call the school by 3:30 pm to ensure we have time to get the message to your child.  Keeping up-to-date phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses for the school helps with timely communication in case of dismissal questions, illness, injury, teacher concerns, etc.  

Open House will be on August 1, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.  There will be a Kindergarten Parent Information Session at 4:00 p.m.  Students will meet their teacher that day and can bring their supplies.
A school bus will be on site from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for students to prepare for the school year. We will have an ELL parent and family information session at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
